Belarus' forestry export potential showcased in Poland

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – Belarus' forestry export potential was presented in Poland during the business talks on ways to expand exports of the Belarusian forestry and woodworking products and develop cooperation between the corresponding companies of Belarus and Poland, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Poland.

Partaking in the event were more than 130 representatives of the forestry and woodworking companies of Belarus and Poland. The companies specialize in the production of timber, wood boards, floor covering, parquetry, laminated wood structures, and wood processing equipment. Attending the forum were heads and representatives of Poland's biggest associations of entrepreneurs: the Polish Economic Chamber of Wood Industry, the Wood Based Panels Producers Association, the Ministry of Development of Poland, and others.

Belarus was represented at the event by representatives of the Forestry Ministry, Bellesbumprom Concern, BTB, FEZ Mogilev, National Association of Wood Industry, Bellesexport, Belarusian Forestry Company, Gomeldrev, Fandok, Rechitsadrev, Pinskdrev Plywood, Belarustorg, UAB Amkodor Baltic, and a number of other woodworking companies.

The parties discussed the opportunities of selling Belarusian forestry and timber materials abroad through exchange auctions, and also industrial cooperation and plans for joint wood production projects in FEZ Mogilev. The event included a presentation of the potential of the national mechanical engineering products designed for the forest sector and wood industry. The sides also talked over possible areas for investing and sites to build industrial facilities with access to local raw materials.

The event also highlighted cooperation prospects with Poland and joint projects in forestry and wood industry.

According to the Belarusian embassy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Poland Alexander Averyanov laid flowers at the Soviet Military Cemetery to mark the 72nd anniversary of Warsaw's liberation from the Nazis.
