Belarus' food exports up by 9.3% in January-April 2018

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – Belarus' food exports rose by 9.3% in January-April 2018, Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats told reporters on the sidelines of the international agriculture expo Belagro 2018, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus' agriculture industry has showed positive dynamics during the period under review. Gross output increased by 3.5%. The production of milk went up by 80,000 tonnes, that of meat by 8,000 tonnes. Thanks to this, we have fully provided the processing plants with raw materials, saturated the food domestic market and sold the surplus abroad. In January-April Belarus' food exports totaled $1.644 billion, which was up by 9.3% over the same period a year earlier (or by $140 million),” Leonid Zayats said.

The international agriculture expo Belagro 2018 kicked off at the Globus Park trade and logistics center in the agro-town of Shchomyslitsa, Minsk District on 5 June. Taking part in the expo will be 536 companies from 28 countries, including Austria, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Poland, Russia, the United States, Ukraine, and Finland. Collective stands are showcased by the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Industry Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belgospishcheprom, Belkoopsoyuz, other ministries and agencies of Belarus. The expo also features expositions of the enterprises from the Czech Republic, India, Pakistan, and the Kirov Oblast of Russia.

Belagro 2018 is held as part of the Belarusian Agro-Industrial Week and is co-located with international exhibitions Belferma, Belprodukt, Prodmash. Kholod. Upak.
