Belarus' export and investment potential presented in Lyon

MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – Belarus' business presentation took place in Lyon, France on 26 January. The event featured a presentation of export and investment cooperation opportunities between Belarus and France, BelTA learnt from Belarus' embassy in France.

The presentation was organized by the diplomatic mission in cooperation with Belarus' Honorary Consulate in Lyon. Partaking in the presentation were nearly 70 representatives of French and Belarusian business circles. Talks were held between businessmen of the two countries.

The Belarusian delegation was given a tour around the companies specializing in the construction of low-energy houses and production of refrigerating equipment. Minsk Vice Mayor Zhanna Birich held talks with Lyon Vice Mayor for Foreign Relations and Historical Heritage Dominique Durand. The parties discussed cooperation prospects between the two cities. The participants of the talks stressed that Minsk and Lyon will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their sister-city relations in 2016.

The parties agreed to hold a number of events marking the date. Among them will be the Day of Belarusian Culture in Lyon on 17 April, Belarus' participation in the exhibition of the honorary consulates accredited in Lyon in September, Minsk business meetings for Belarusian and French businessmen in October, the establishment of cooperation between Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank and the University of Lyon.

The Belarusian delegation is on a visit to Lyon on 25-27 January. The major goal of the visit is to present Belarus' trade, economic and investment cooperation for businessmen of Lyon and Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, one of France's most economically developed regions.
