Belarus-EU investment forum kicks off in Austria

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) - The EU-Belarus investment forum entitled Vienna Forum: Promoting EU Investments in Belarus opened in Austria on 24 May, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Partaking in the forum is an official Belarusian delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky. The delegation comprises representatives of the National Bank, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Finance Ministry, the Construction and Architecture Ministry, the National Investment and Privatization Agency, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and businessmen.

The forum will feature the presentation of the investment climate and potential of Belarus, its free economic zones, Great Stone Industrial Park, Hi-Tech Park, and small towns. The program will also include direct talks between Belarusian and European officials and companies. Attending the event are over 90 companies from the European Union and more than 30 Belarusian enterprises.

With a view to expanding bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation with the EU states, head of the Belarusian delegation Vasily Matyushevsky is expected to meet with President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl and representatives of big Austrian companies to discuss the implementation of a number of investment projects in Belarus. Vasily Matyushevsky is also expected to hold talks with representatives of the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
