Belarus' environment ministry to simplify administrative procedures for business

MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection will simplify a number of administrative procedures for business, BelTA learned from Iya Malkina, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

“We plan to reduce the list of administrative procedures, primarily those related to subsurface use and waste disposal. Currently we are cooperating actively with self-employed businessmen to facilitate the procedure of coordinating waste disposal instructions,” Iya Malkina said.

The Ministry of Natural Resources also contemplates abolishing licensing. “We license waste disposal and ozone-depleting substances. We should analyze our international commitments, primarily in the EEU to determine whether we can unilaterally amend some procedures,” the first deputy minister clarified.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is also analyzing technical regulations related to various matters: ozone layer protection, renewable energy sources, waste disposal, protection of atmospheric air, water protection and water use. “We have studied which technical regulations have mandatory requirements and which include voluntary ones. We plan to analyze whether we need to keep the mandatory requirements in place from the point of view of our international commitments. The voluntary ones will remain unchanged,” Iya Malkina noted.
