Belarus' Energy Ministry expects new roadmap on gas ready next week

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian Energy Ministry hopes a new version of the Belarus-Russia roadmap on gas will be ready before the end of next week, Belarus' Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich told BelTA.

“We are looking to work this week and the next one to have a new document ready by the end of next week. The work will be done together with Russian counterparts. We looked through all the roadmaps at the yesterday's meeting of the prime ministers. The instruction was given to consider unsettled issues in detail,” said Viktor Karankevich.

In his words, the Energy Ministry will focus on the new versions of the roadmaps on gas and electricity. “The roadmap on nuclear power has been coordinated,” the minister said.

A reminder, the prime ministers of Belarus and Russia approved the draft action program to implement the Union State Treaty and a series of roadmaps in early September. Now the parties need to draft 31 roadmaps to implement the action program. Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas said that further integration in the Union State of Belarus and Russia is possible only after the most critical issues in Belarus-Russia economic cooperation are resolved. Those include oil and gas pricing practices, consequences of the tax maneuver, barriers preventing products from reaching domestic national markets, unequal incentives for manufacturers, including support via subsidies, and other things.
