Belarus, Ecuador discuss industrial cooperation

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The expansion of industrial cooperation was in the spotlight of the visit of Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov to Ecuador on 14-16 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian official met with Ecuador's Minister of Industry and Productivity Eva Garcia Fabre. The sides discussed the possibility of expanding industrial cooperation, setting up assembly plants for Belarusian automobiles in Ecuador, establishing joint ventures to process Ecuadorean seafood, and also supplying Belarusian agricultural vehicles under Ecuador's national agricultural mechanization program. They put a special focus on preparations for the third session of the Belarus-Ecuador commission for trade and economic cooperation.

Yevgeny Shestakov also met with Jose Serrano, President of Ecuador's National Assembly, Vice President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino). They discussed the intensification of Belarus-Ecuador interparliamentary cooperation, exchange of visits, and ways to strengthen interaction in the Interparliamentary Union and Parlatino, the press service said.

Yevgeny Shestakov had a meeting with Ecuador's Deputy Defense Minister Felipe Vega de la Cuadra to touch upon promising avenues of cooperation.
