MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus counts on further expanding cooperation with the International Monetary Fund. Belarus-IMF cooperation was discussed as First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky met with Jacques Miniane, chief of the IMF mission sent to Belarus, BelTA has learned.
During the meeting the sides discussed macroeconomic stability of the economy, support for the private sector, the restructuring of state-run enterprises, and priority avenues of Belarus-IMF cooperation in the medium term.
Vasily Matyushevsky thanked the IMF for assistance with the project to form a market of troubled assets. Vasily Matyushevsky said he hopes that cooperation with the IMF will expand in the future.
BelTA reported earlier that a mission of the International Monetary Fund led by Jacques Miniane is working in Belarus on 9-13 July. Its goal is to review the current economic situation in the country.
