Belarus considering barter trade with Sudan, Egypt

MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) – Belarus, Sudan, and Egypt are considering the possibility of using mechanisms of non-monetary discharge of foreign trade obligations in mutual trade, BelTA learned from the State Property Committee.

Representatives of the National Bank of Belarus, Belarusbank, and GO Belresursy held talks in Khartoum and Cairo. The parties agreed that non-monetary discharge of obligations in the export of Belarusian products and services to Sudan and Egypt will be performed including through the supply of goods from these countries in exchange for Belarusian products.

The Belarusian head of state gave instructions to consider such mechanisms after his visit to Sudan in January 2017. GO Belresursy will act as the Belarusian operator of deliveries to Sudan.
