Belarus cherishes its reputation as high-quality dairy producer

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus cherishes its reputation as a producer of high-quality dairy goods and tightly controls their quality, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, the Director of the Veterinary and Food Supervision Department Alexander Subbotin told media, BelTA has learned.

Commenting on the recent statements made by Rosselkhoznadzor about the alleged noncompliance of Belarusian dried milk with the established standards, Alexander Subbotin said that the control in this area is “as tough as possible”. “Quality is expensive. Continuous control is needed to maintain the reputation we have won,” he added. In cases when some flaws are found at Belarusian enterprises, the Belarusian side imposes restrictions on domestic sales and exports until they are all removed.

Alexander Subbotin noted that the situation with Rosselkhoznadzor's recent complaints has been settled. He said that before the information was published in mass media he had a phone conversation with the Rosselkhoznadzor leadership during which the Russian side expressed concern, without concrete examples, about the quality of the products of Belarusian suppliers. The Deputy Minister stressed that each case should be dealt with individually, and noted that poor-quality products might turn out to be made somewhere else and just supplied under Belarusian brands.
