Belarus' central bank scheduled to review refinancing rate in June

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – The National Bank of Belarus is scheduled to review the refinancing rate in June, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) Dmitry Kalechits said at the Digital Banking conference, BelTA has learned.

“We follow a standard procedure: the Board of the National Bank convenes four times a year for quarterly meetings to make the forecast, to analyze the economic situation and to review the refinancing rate. Then we announce the decisions to the public,” Dmitry Kalechits noted.

He noted that the National Bank seeks to pursue a predictable policy when it comes to the regular discussion of these matters and publication of the results.

The next quarterly meeting of the Board of the National Bank on monetary policy is due in June.

The last time the refinancing rate was reduced in Belarus was on 14 February when it was cut down from 11% to 10.5% per annum.
