Belarus-built mining, processing factory in Turkmenistan to start producing in December

PETRIKOV, 30 August (BelTA) – The first batch of commercial products — concentrated potassium chloride — will be made by the Garlyk mining and processing factory in Turkmenistan in December 2016, BelTA learned from Belaruskali Director General Ivan Golovaty in Petrikov on 30 August.

Belaruskali acts as the general contractor for building the Garlyk mining and processing factory. According to the source, at present ore is extracted from the mine by processing minerals with a low potassium content. Later on after the second and third harvesters are assembled, the machines will start working with a layer with a high content of commercial minerals. A total of five borers will be assembled, said Ivan Golovaty.

For now the ore will be piled up in the warehouse, which is designed to store 70,000 tonnes of ore. The factory will start enriching the ore in late autumn in order to start producing the concentrate in December 2016. The technology will be fully polished in January 2017. After that the factory will have to pass acceptance trials in order to become completely operational in March 2017.
