Belarus approves draft agreement with Latvia on cooperation in nuclear security

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – The Council of Ministers of Belarus has approved a draft agreement with the Government of Latvia on early notification of nuclear accidents, information sharing and cooperation in nuclear security and radiation protection. The corresponding decision is laid down in the Council of Ministers' Resolution No.92 of 3 February 2018 published on the national legal internet portal on 7 February, BelTA has learned.

The document was approved in accordance with Article 5 of the Law "On International Treaties of the Republic of Belarus". The agreement serves as the basis for negotiations. During the negotiations, it is permissible, if necessary, to introduce amendments and (or) additions of a non-fundamental nature to the draft agreement.

It is also entrusted to sign the agreement upon reaching an agreement within the approved project.

The decision comes into force on the date of its adoption.
