Anfimov: Majority of Belarusian enterprises coping well with economic difficulties

POLOTSK DISTRICT, 27 July (BelTA) - The majority of enterprises in Belarus operate effectively coping efficiently with economic difficulties, Chairman of the State Control Committee Leonid Anfimov said as he visited OAO Polotsk-Steklovolokno and met with employees of the company, BelTA has learned.

“This is a really effective enterprise, and they are the majority in the country. Of course, I wish that every company were like this. Then we would have no problems in the economy. But, there are poorly performing companies. But these are temporary difficulties, and I think we will address them in the next 2 or 3 years and the economic growth in the country will be comparable to the one we had 5 years ago,” Leonid Anfimov said.

Sharing impressions from visiting Polotsk-Steklovolokno, head of the financial watchdog noted that the company has made a very positive impression on him. “This is my first visit to the company. I can say that the company is the pride of our economy and contribute a lot to the manufacturing potential of the country,” Leonid Anfimov said.

However, the head of the State Control Committee stressed that successful businesses must keep up the pace of development and hold their foothold on the market. “Competition in foreign markets is so high that if you lose some small part of the market, they can squeeze you out completely,” Leonid Anfimov said.

During the meeting with workers of Polotsk-Steklovolokno Leonid Anfimov clarified some points which were discussed at the Fifth Belarusian People's Congress and talked about the main areas of economic development of the country.

On 27 July, Leonid Anfimov was in Vitebsk Oblast on a working trip. In addition to the visit to Polotsk-Steklovolokno he also visited the agricultural company Kushliki to see the progress in the harvesting of grains and legumes.
