Amkodor, Sinomach to discuss plans to launch joint production of excavators, bulldozers

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Representatives of the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Amkodor and China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) will meet in April to consider matters related to the establishment of a joint venture to make excavators and bulldozers, BelTA learned from Amkodor.

The plans to set up a joint Belarusian-Chinese venture with a complete production cycle to manufacture in-demand caterpillar excavators and bulldozers were considered during a recent meeting that discussed matters related to the upgrade of the Amkodor-KEZ enterprise in 2017-2025. A final decision on these plans will be adopted during the next round of Amkodor-Sinomach talks in China in mid-April.

Apart from setting up a joint venture, Belarus is also considering the possibility of getting a license to make Sinomach brand vehicles with a high level of localization to further sell them in Belarus, Russia and other countries.

The talks with China National Machinery Industry Corporation on setting up a joint venture to make excavation machines at Amkodor-KEZ have been underway for several years already. “In February this year, Amkodor produced four Sinomach machines. Those were caterpillar excavators with 1m3 and 1.2m3 buckets that are among the most popular special machines in the world. The demand for them is constantly growing. The excavators are undergoing tests at the moment,” the company said.

Amkodor is the country's leading manufacturer of road construction machines, municipal vehicles, agricultural machines, and other kinds of special machines and equipment. Amkodor offers machines for the road construction industry, agriculture (crop husbandry and animal husbandry), utilities industry, forestry, peat extraction, and airfield cleaning.

Sinomach Heavy Industry is a major manufacturer of industrial equipment and heavy machines. The company focuses on R&D and production of engineering equipment, relevant client services, design and sales. Sinomach Heavy Industry operates joint ventures with the world's top manufacturers of industrial equipment, Hyundai (South Korea) and Komatsu (Japan) among them.
