Amarin: More understanding between Belarus and IMF

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Belarus are coming to greater understanding, Belarus' Finance Minister Vladimir Amarin told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“There is more understanding between Belarus and the IMF,” the Minister said. Vladimir Amarin believes that the IMF and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development generally offer similar measures. “The depth of these measures and the scope may be different,” he said.

“We will initiate the discussion of the new program within the framework of this mission,” Vladimir Amarin said when speaking about the forthcoming visit of the IMF mission.

In addition, the head of the Finance Ministry stressed that Belarus honors its external commitments. “In January-April we paid more than $1.1 billion on our external and internal foreign exchange obligations. We will have to pay $2 billions more by the end of the year. There are sources for this, they have been mobilized,” Vladimir Amarin said.
