Agriculture Ministry: Belarusian laboratories meet international standards

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarusian laboratories comply with international standards, Belarus' Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said in an interview with the ONT TV channel.

According to the deputy minister, there are systems that accredit Belarusian laboratories. “That is why our laboratories conform both to the Russian and international levels,” said Igor Brylo.

He added that the Belarusian dairies cannot make the product of poor quality. The control starts in the raw material zone. Every commercial dairy farm has a mini lab which checks the quality of milk. Only then the product is sent to the plant.

Igor Brylo noted that the requirements to the standard 1598 2006 Cow Milk. Purchasing Compliance Requirements were made tougher in September 2015. The upper threshold for microorganisms was reduced from 4 million to 500,000 per milliliter, which was almost an eight-time reduction. In his words, milk of second-class quality, which is still available in Russia, cannot be produced in Belarus.
