Agricultural policy future high on agenda of next forum of Belarusian, Russian regions

MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – Prospects of the agrarian policy of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will be discussed during the fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, the press service of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus told BelTA.

A meeting took place in the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy in Gorki, Mogilev Oblast to discuss preparations for the international science and practice conference Agrarian Policy of the Union State: Experience, Problems, Prospects. The conference will take place as part of the fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.

The meeting in Gorki was chaired by Chairman of the Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Alexander Popkov. Participants of the meeting discussed in detail the organization of the science and practice conference. The development of the draft program on the sustainable development of agribusiness in Gorki District, Dribin District, and Mstislavl District on the basis of scientific research, cutting-edge technologies, and innovations was discussed.

Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Piotr Kazakevich, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo, and heads of a number of applied science centers of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy took part in the meeting.

BelTA reported earlier that the fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in Mogilev on 11-12 October. About 2,000 people are expected to participate in the event. The plenary session on priority directions for advancing regional cooperation as the key factor in the integration and development of the Union State will be the key event of the forum. The heads of state are expected to participate in the plenary session. Panel sessions will be held to discuss agricultural policy, legislation unification and harmonization, digital economy, youth policy, international activities, and economic security. The business part of the future forum is also important. It will feature a session of the Business Cooperation Council, business meetings, and business negotiations, in which heads of companies and enterprises of Belarus and Russia will take part.

A session of the interparliamentary commission on interregional cooperation will take place during the forum. Established by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the commission will discuss prospects of bolstering interparliamentary ties and the role of the parliamentary dimension in the development of Belarusian-Russian relations.

The forum will also feature an Integration and Cooperation Week, a youth forum, a congress of representatives of university student organizations, a number of sport events, a joint session of the women's unions of Mogilev Oblast and Russia's Tula Oblast, as well as other events.

An arts and crafts market will stay open for the duration of the forum. Master classes will be arranged. Handmade products will be on sale. National cuisine will be sampled. A number of folk music bands and folk singers are expected to perform as part of the arts and crafts market.

The fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in association with the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee.
