Agreement on Belarusian-Tajikistani plans to set up, develop joint ventures

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – During negotiations in the Palace of Independence on 1 December Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon backed the proposal of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in favor of setting up and developing joint manufacturing ventures, BelTA has learned.

Emomali Rahmon said it represented a huge potential. He suggested instructing the intergovernmental commission to study all the details and opportunities for setting up the joint ventures at a session in January or February 2018. “Not only taking into account the market of Tajikistan but also the market, as you say, of Afghanistan,” noted Emomali Rahmon.

Six bridges to connect Tajikistan and Afghanistan have been built in the last few years. The bilateral trade turnover has increased thanks to the bridges among other things. “Trade is flowing. Goods are traded via Afghanistan to Pakistan, too,” specified the Tajikistan president.

Emomali Rahmon said: “We treasure our relations — personal ones and relations between nations. It is highly appreciated in Tajikistan. You are loved in Tajikistan. They always listen to you via mass media.”

In response Alexander Lukashenko noted that the intergovernmental TV and radio company Mir is a respectable channel that delivers news about the situation in the republics in an objective manner.
