On 23 December 2016 Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed the decree to declare 2017 the Year of Science.

The main purpose of the decree is to bolster the role of science in the social and economic development of the country, enable comfortable conditions for preserving and developing the scientific potential, and shape Belarus' international image as a country with a high level of the intellectual and human capital.

Belarusian scientists to partake in international project to find new particles

According to the source, scientists from all over the world are preparing an international project designed to find new particles. Belarusian scientists intend to take an active part in the project just like in the previous project, which led to the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012.

International academic center ICRANet to open in Minsk next week
