Year of Science

On 23 December 2016 Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed the decree to declare 2017 the Year of Science.

The main purpose of the decree is to bolster the role of science in the social and economic development of the country, enable comfortable conditions for preserving and developing the scientific potential, and shape Belarus' international image as a country with a high level of the intellectual and human capital.

Belarus eager to become consultative party to Antarctic Treaty

The preparation of a package of documents to get the consultative party status for Belarus is being discussed. The matter is of strategic importance. This status will allow Belarus to vote, participate in the development and adoption of decisions concerning the present and the future of Antarctica.

According to the source, Belarusian and Russian companies will team up to create the satellite. Belarus will make surveying instruments while Roscosmos will take care of creating the platform and inserting the satellite into orbit.

Belarus, Russia to decide on terms of new satellite project soon

Work on the project is already in progress. Both sides are financing the initial designs on their own. The Belarusian company Peleng will make core equipment for the satellite while the Russian company VNIIEM will make the platform.

Belarus to present electric car, electric bus at forum of regions in Moscow

An electric car based on Geely SC7 will be presented during the forum as well as a passenger electric bus and a charging station for electric vehicles. Visitors will also be able to get familiar with R&D products made by finalists of the national contest 100 Ideas for Belarus.
