At the opening plenary session of the 26th OSCE PA Annual Session in Minsk, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko suggested starting a discussion on the need to launch a new Helsinki Process in the OSCE. I fully support this initiative, Christine Muttonen said.

Silk Road support group established in OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

The initiative to set up the Silk Road support group was put forward by Azerbaijan. The group's founders include 17 countries, with Belarus among them. Another three countries have stated their interest in joining the group later on.

The deputy head of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament said: “Unfortunately, double standards exist and are preserved. Even the events that occurred in Hamburg, Germany yesterday invoked no bad or negative comments [except for those by the Belarusian senator Sergei Gaidukevich].”
Draft resolution on inadmissibility of religious discrimination adopted by OSCE PA committee

The draft resolution on the inadmissibility of religious discrimination and intolerance towards Christians, Muslims, and followers of other religions was suggested by Russia. The Russian senator Lyudmila Narusova is the main author of the document.

The Kyrgyz MP said: “An autumn session will take place in Bishkek in 2018 so a working group has arrived as part of our country's delegation to study how our Belarusian colleagues had prepared for this important political event. You have set the bar high and we will try to keep up.”
