Big Conversation with the President

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will meet with members of the public, representatives of the Belarusian and foreign mass media on 3 February. The large-scale event will be held under the title The Big Conversation with the President. The meeting will be attended by about 40 journalists representing the biggest state-run and corporate Belarusian media outlets, popular websites, and major foreign mass media. Numerous experts, including famous political analysts, economists, and representatives of political parties, religions, and public associations are also invited. They will take part in the discussion of the most topical issues.

The official said: “Eight of the ten documents have been signed. The document on digitizing the economy, on the Hi-Tech Park will be signed soon. It is virtually ready. I hope there will be a government conference in order to discuss all the peculiarities with a larger audience.”

The draft decree was discussed at an expanded-participation government conference held by the Belarus president in August along with other documents meant to simplify business operation terms. Back then the head of state gave instructions to polish all the regulatory acts and present detailed reports on each of them afterwards.

“Revenues need to be higher than they were or at least as high as they were. But revenues cannot be raised by increasing the tax burden. Instead revenues should be raised thanks to increased economic activity,” said the chairman of the Entrepreneurship Development Council.
