The organizing committee for celebrations of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing is led by Information Minister Lilia Ananich and Culture Minister Boris Svetlov. Some 60 events will be held to mark the anniversary.
The business and culture center of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia hosted a roundtable “Diplomacy of the word: 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing in the context of the world culture” on 5 June.
According to the source, the roundtable session will be held as part of the Books of Russia expo. On that day writers and poets, first and foremost, Russian writers, will come to the Belarusian embassy in Moscow. “We will continue the conversation about humanitarian partnership,” said Alexander Karlyukevich.
The conference will bring together scholars of the academies of sciences, major universities, museums, archives, and libraries of Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, and the Czech Republic.
This year the forum is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian and East European book printing. The readings are devoted to the topic “Religion and writing system as the factors that have formed the Slavic culture”.
