The organizing committee for celebrations of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing is led by Information Minister Lilia Ananich and Culture Minister Boris Svetlov. Some 60 events will be held to mark the anniversary.
The organizers will stage charity actions to collect books for social institutions. Meetings of young Belarusians with writers will be arranged. Bookcrossing book shelves will be installed in public places. Anyone will be able to borrow the books with the project's logo.
According to Academician Alexander Lokotko, Director of the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the proverbs reflect common human values, which inspire people to work, inspire love for their father's home, sanctity of motherhood, tolerance, and good will.
The business and culture center of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia hosted a roundtable “Diplomacy of the word: 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing in the context of the world culture” on 5 June.
According to the source, the roundtable session will be held as part of the Books of Russia expo. On that day writers and poets, first and foremost, Russian writers, will come to the Belarusian embassy in Moscow. “We will continue the conversation about humanitarian partnership,” said Alexander Karlyukevich.
